Some important initial considerations.
Q. To do-it-yourself or to outsource?
You may wish to consider: How much is your time worth per-hour? > or how much will it cost to hire or re-train a staff member?
Also consider the significant time and cost of adequately learning the involved skills (and keeping up-to-date), licensing and learning the software tools and then beginning the process of implementing a solution.
A.
It's probably more cost-effective to hire us to do the work. We've designed our services and pricing structure to make it much better business sense to hire us, rather than train yourself, or hire and train a new staff member.
However, having said that, here's our guide to...
Understanding the Process by Simon Stoppa, Principal Researcher, SEM Advantage
Search engine marketing and all its related activities have evolved into a significantly complex and in-depth undertaking. In this section about 'understanding the process', our aim is to, as best as practical, explain how search engine marketing (SEM) is conducted.
This serves a couple of purposes. Firstly, it will give you a better idea of what we do... of what sort of activities you may be paying for. It will enable you to better understand and evaluate any suggestions we may make. This is all in the interests of increased transparency and accountability. We feel this is an important point, in the relatively new field of SEM, where too often you'll come across generalist firms with a well meaning but superficial or outdated understanding - or in the worse case, we've seen some that are deliberately misleading or obfuscating (especially in the case of those received through Spam).
This guide, which you can refer back to as you please, is intended to help remedy the above problems.
A second purpose in creating this section, is to acknowledge that the SEM process can improve as an interactive process, which benefits from the knowledgeable cooperation between the SEM firm and the client. The internet and its technologies are becoming increasingly interwoven with core business models and marketing practices. Increasingly so, it is not sufficient to simply 'surrender' your marketing efforts to an outside SEM firm an leave it at that. With a better 'in-house' knowledge, you can help us work more efficiently, more cost-effectively and with a better strategic overview.
Together we can work more powerfully towards fulfilling your unique marketing and business goals.
Please enjoy reading through these informative pages and hopefully enlightening pages.
Our guide consists of condensed, and relevant material. Go through it carefully, paying attention details in order to derive the most benefit from it.
