Keywords are to do with how your site relates to the actual words a user types in when making a search. The actual term they enter is called the 'search term'. Search engines will return a list of sites that its algorithm has calculated as best matching the 'search term'.

 

It's therefore very important to select the best keywords to use in your campaign for increased prominence and/or relevancy.
